Paris Olympics 2024: Alcaraz, Djokovic to clash in men's singles tennis final
Alcaraz one win away from historic Olympic title
Carlos Alcaraz has the chance to make history at the Paris 2024 Olympics as he stands just one win away from becoming the youngest man to win an Olympic tennis title. The 19-year-old Spaniard will face Novak Djokovic in the men's singles final on Sunday.
Djokovic beats Nadal, Tsitsipas to reach final
Djokovic, the top seed, has been in impressive form throughout the tournament. He overcame a brief wobble in the second set to beat 14-times French Open champion Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) in the second round. He then outclassed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) in the semi-finals.
Alcaraz hoping to emulate idol Nadal
Alcaraz, for his part, has also been in excellent form. He has won all five of his matches in straight sets, including a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. The Spaniard is hoping to emulate his idol Nadal, who won the Olympic gold medal in men's singles in 2008 and 2016.
Djokovic aiming for fourth Olympic medal
Djokovic is aiming to win his fourth Olympic medal. He won the bronze medal in singles in 2008, and the bronze medal in mixed doubles in 2012. He also won the gold medal in mixed doubles in 2020.
Epic final expected
The final is expected to be a close and competitive affair. Both Alcaraz and Djokovic are in excellent form, and they have both shown the ability to win big matches on the biggest stage.
The match will be played on Sunday, August 4, at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris.
